I love this state. I want Kansas to be a great place to raise my sons, build our small business, and get outside and play in our Kansas landscapes!
And I want this for all Kansas families, not just my own.
Therefore, I support a sufficiently-funded state government that invests in children, families, and the environment. I believe that government has a responsibility to promote policies that provide economic and social justice, a clean environment and safe workplaces.
I also believe that to build a better Kansas will take all of us. I am committed to protecting voter rights so that all of us can participate in the political process, regardless of race, color, age, physical abilities, economic status, religion, creed, sex, national origin, ethnicity, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
By nature, I am a collaborator. I prefer to find common ground with my colleagues whenever possible, and respectfully disagree when not. I believe that government functions best when leaders are transparent and utilize facts and thoughtful debate to move our state forward.
What do you think are key issues for Kansas? Reach out and let me know your priorities for the 10th district and our state.
I believe that health care is a human right. All Kansans should have access to adequate and affordable health care.
I support the Affordable Care Act, and believe the Medicaid-expansion component of the ACA should be enacted in Kansas. This will be good for Kansas families and for our small rural hospitals.
Agriculture is the backbone of our Kansas economy. I believe we should support innovative growing and ranching practices that both protect the environment and grow our Kansas economy. Kansas has some of the most fertile soils in the nation. We can conserve and protect our soil resources by equipping agricultural producers with the tools and incentives they need.
Access to healthy food is a critical issue both in urban areas and rural towns in Kansas. I support creative financing, policies, and programs to eliminate food deserts in Kansas.
I believe that supporting workers through collective bargaining, higher wages, workplace protections, and policies to balance work and family will help us rebuild a vibrant middle class.
I believe that the current minimum wage is unjust and must be increased to be a living wage. No one who works full-time should have to raise a family in poverty.
I support adequate and equitable funding for K-12 public education as required by the Kansas Constitution.
Our health is intertwined with the health of our air, water, and soil. Protecting these natural resources protects our health and that of future Kansans.
